Students Explore New Interests, Build Friendships, and Discover Their Talents
The learning and fun don't stop when the final bell rings at Pickens Elementary! Our after-school clubs offer students exciting opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, build friendships, and discover hidden talents. From music and art to healthy eating and personal growth, there's something for everyone!
Hope Club
Hope Club meets on Tuesdays, with different grade levels participating each week. Open to students in second through fifth grades, this club provides an opportunity for students to connect, grow, and enjoy time together outside the traditional classroom setting.
Good News Club
Sponsored by Pickens View Wesleyan Church, Good News Club meets on Tuesdays and provides students with an opportunity to learn about the Christian faith through Bible lessons and activities. We appreciate the volunteers who dedicate their time to making this club possible!
Art Club
Creativity comes to life on Monday afternoons during Art Club! Open exclusively to fifth-grade students, the club meets from 2:45–3:30 PM and runs from mid-October through mid-March. Students have the opportunity to further explore a variety of art materials, experiment with different techniques, and discover exciting new ways to create art. This club encourages imagination, artistic expression, and creativity while giving our young artists a chance to develop their talents beyond the classroom!
Palmetto Picks
One of our newest additions, Palmetto Picks, gives second-grade students a hands-on opportunity to explore the world of natural foods! Students learn where foods come from, how they grow, and how different preparation methods can bring out their best flavors. Through tasting, experimenting, and cooking, students are encouraged to try new foods and discover just how delicious healthy eating can be!
Chorus
Our Chorus Club gives students in third through fifth grades an opportunity to develop their musical abilities and experience the joy of making music together! The club meets after school until 3:45 PM, running from mid-October through mid-April. Throughout the year, students prepare for special performances, including Christmas and spring concerts, as well as the All-County Chorus Festival. Through singing and practicing together, students build confidence, develop teamwork, and share their love of music with our school and community!
YAMS – Young Appalachian Musicians
Our YAMS program provides third through fifth-grade students with the opportunity to learn to play string instruments and develop their musical talents. Students meet on different days depending on their instrument, receiving instruction that helps them build musical skills while gaining an appreciation for traditional music. This program is a wonderful way for students to discover a lifelong love of music!
More Than Just Clubs!
At Pickens Elementary, we believe learning extends far beyond the classroom. These after-school opportunities allow students to discover new passions, develop confidence, and create meaningful connections with their peers and community. We are grateful for the teachers, volunteers, and community partners who make these enriching experiences possible for our students!
