Mr. Serina, advisor for the Easley Youth in Government, wanted to share the following about the amazing group of students who represented us well in Columbia:
I want to congratulate the Easley Youth in Government on their accomplishments this past week. Easley came together to celebrate democracy at the state capital, and our Green Wave principles of democracy were on full display, democracy is not a spectator sport.
Anna Grace Rice made us proud by serving as Secretary of State in her senior year. Zoey Barnett ran a campaign for Lt. Governor and delivered her speech in front of 1,500 students. Mason Bryant earned the prestigious Philip Bradley Leadership Scholarship, a rare honor given to only one student at the entire conference. Kaje Stueber was recognized as an Outstanding Statesman, an impressive feat for a freshman. Joselyn Bakman, Cana Donald, Klairy Gonzales, and Taylor Lane received Outstanding Bill awards for their written legislation. Ethan Nichols made history by developing, pitching, and promoting a third-party platform at the conference, something that had never been done before.
In addition to these achievements, several of our students served in leadership roles throughout the conference, including Emma Webster, Breonah Small, Corbin Lea, Avery Baker, Berna Guzman, Noah Miller, Anna Grace Rice, Mason Bryant, Lucia Ramos-Calleros, Zoey Barnett, Ethan Nichols, Wyatt Reeves, Calder Adams, Kylie Lowe, Iari Moore, and Owen Wise.
To cap off the week, Governor McMaster personally selected some of our students to talk with him about their experiences at the conference, a huge honor! It was an incredible week of growth, leadership, and success, and I couldn’t be more proud of all of our students. Thank you for your support, and if you see any of the students, please take a moment to congratulate them on their outstanding achievements.
