The JetToy Challenge is a hands-on, competitive way for students who learn physics. Students use what they have learned in their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) courses to make a small balloon-powered cart hit goals for accuracy, time, distance, and weighted distance. This year, the challenge added a new component--interviews--in which students had to explain to teachers the science behind their creations.
Two creatively-named teams from each Pickens County elementary school met at Daniel High School on February 21 to determine a winner. We're very proud of these winners:
• First Place - "The Clueless Five" - Forest Acres Elementary
• Second Place - "Unicorns of the Sea" - Clemson Elementary
• Third Place - "Furman Devils" - Pickens Elementary
